Exquisite one-of-a-kind, hand-blown glass, 18" high, 18" across top
A Message from the Artist, Nathan Sheafor "The tidepool series started was back in 1996 when myself, Mom, Dad, Bram, and Alison would sit down for breakfast on Sunday and design a piece of glass to make after we finished eating. Alison had the original idea and from that moment on, more and more additions to its design have taken place. "Originally, they were thought of as a reflection of what a tide pool would be like. After that, thoughts of opening them up to create lift and breadth offered a more dramatic look. The three handles added on the side of the pieces promoted a very organic look and prompting thoughts of frozen fluidity, which is what glass is. I began working on a rainbow swirl on the exterior and changing the interior colors to reflect certain moods. "For me, the purple interiors speak of harmony, quietness, and a connection to the earth currents of existence. The rainbow has been a reflection of power, beauty, and a reflection of the energy that I put forth as a competitive athlete initially. Now, I still feel that verve and also recognize the rainbow of feelings I have to be married, have a family, and be connected to them and my extended family. I feel as though those energies are brought into the making of the piece with those that are helping me accomplish this task. In this case, Paul Kindling offered help, direction, and a focus to this creation. That being the auction for the symphony. I could not have made this without his help, and a piece of The Glass Forge, Paul, and myself is held within its aura."
